#coverreveal Two New Covers! #HoneyBeaulieu @JacquieRogers #western

New Cover for Honey!
by Jacquie Rogers

I absolutely love the original cover for Hot Work in Fry Pan Gulch:

The artist, Chase Miller, drew several versions of Honey but we all loved the classic James Bond pose the most, so that's the drawing we went with for the cover.  Everyone else loved it, too.

But it had to go.

Yes, this makes me sad.

Why?

Because you can't advertise on any major venue if a weapon is pointing at the reader.  This is a problem.

I didn't have any idea (nor did any of my friends) that there would be such a rule, especially in light of... well, James Bond.  Apparently, James Bond is no longer politically correct.  Sigh.  So I contacted the artist and he set to redoing the drawing and the cover.

Chase is very talented and of course I love the new cover, especially when he drew that fun gunshot right through the J.  Seemed appropriate in light of how mad/sad/befuddled I was about the whole deal.  So here, for the first time, is the new cover.

Apparently April was cover month in my world because Chase also finished the cover for Blazing Bullets in Deadwood Gulch (Honey Beaulieu - Man Hunter #3).

This cover is really fun because the bad guy, Sean Chaney, is a friend of mine--a reporter at The Owyhee Avalanche.  Sean told me to go through his Facebook photos and pick one.  Well, that didn't work bein's he's a nice guy and looks like one.  So I asked him if he'd send me some photos where he's snarling, which he did.

And what a fun picture!  This guy could be really nasty, befitting the true spirit of the Badger Claw Kid, who likes his steak lean, his women fluffy, and his whiskey straight up.

Chase did a terrific job on the wanted poster, even including the badger claw mark on Sean's left cheek.  You'll see why that's important when you read Blazing Bullets in Deadwood Gulch (Honey Beaulieu - Man Hunter #3).

I'm about 2/3 finished with Blazing Bullets and hope to have it ready for publication by mid-June, so hang on to your hats--Honey's on her way with another exciting adventure!

If you're on Snapchat, friend me!  My handle is jacquierogers.  You can get videos of Sassy's latest updates there.  And goofy pictures of her scribe.

    1. Thanks! It's a fun series, so the books needed unique covers, which Chase is extremely good at creating.

  2. Interesting on their evolution and the reason why.

  3. Interesting that Honey can hold a gun as long as it's not pointed at the reader. Odd rule, but what can you do? The new cover is very nice, too.
