Royal Wedding Fever by Susan Sheehey

I'm enamored by everything royal. With the upcoming royal wedding between HRH Prince Harry & Meghan Markle, I'm on cloud nine.
Even more so with the recent birth of Prince William & Princess Catherine's third child, Louie.
The world could use more of that beauty and wonder.
I once read an article somewhere that the second Princess Catherine stepped out in her wedding gown, designers had it copied in less than thirty minutes. Ready for sale online, to fill dress shops the world over.
Wow, to have that kind of influence.

Her fashion style and sense is something I admire. Much like Princess Diana's.

I wrote a royal romance series several years ago, the Royals of Solana, and just finished my own Royal Wedding novella from that series. It releases Monday. Sorry, shameless plug. But I love royals that much.

All the royal television shows and movies are my crutches. Game of Thrones, Reign, and The Crown are just a few of my favorites. Grace of Monaco starring Nicole Kidman has been all over Netflix recently, and everything in that film is so beautiful.

A massive influx of royal related romances and fiction has surged onto the market recently, as well. Care to share any of your favorites?

How about your go-to binge-worthy shows and movies? What enamors you?

Weddings and Whirlwinds by Susan Sheehey

Wow, does time fly!

I've been waist-deep in my upcoming release, Royal Wedding,
the finale novella in the Royals of Solana romantic suspense series. Comes out mid-May, just in time for Prince Harry & Meghan Markle's nuptials.

If anyone is interested in an Advanced Reader Copy, I'm sending those out in just a week or so. Sign up for my reader group here, they get first dibs.
Is this a shameless self-promo post, well...yes, I'm sorry. (There's at least a smidge of shame in my soul), but this is just where my mind has been the last several weeks. Plus, I'm so super excited, and this cover has me aww-ing, from the brilliant Jay Aheer from Simply Defined Art.

If you're interested, the description is below.

The invitations are sent. Champagne glasses are full. Paparazzi wait, breathless for the perfect shot.

The eyes of the world are fixed on the opulent fairytale unfolding in tropical paradise.

If they only knew what it took for the Royals of Solana to reach Happily Ever After.

The weight on their shoulders has never been greater, the stakes never higher…

Royal Wedding is the finale of the Royals of Solana romantic suspense and adventure series
by Susan Sheehey.

If you love exotic beaches, happy endings, and lavishly steamy romance,

A Royals of Solana novella

One year after reclaiming the throne of Solana, the island is still healing and rebuilding.
Relentless paparazzi plague the royal family.

Limelight follows André and Gemma to every corner of the island,
shining an invasive light on their blinding passion.
With a rock on her finger for nearly a year, André fears she won’t ever agree to a nuptial date.
Her fear of commitment rules much of their relationship
until they discover an unlikely betrayal from within the palace.

Alanna and Flynn face the pressures of royal responsibility.
He struggles to find his place by his queen’s side. Along with the obligation of
producing an heir to the throne, he’s forced to face his own insecurities
regarding personal childhood challenges.
The weight on Alanna’s shoulders has never been greater,
and the eyes of the world are watching.
Every detail of her life is dictated by governmental protocol.

Finding the privacy they need to rekindle the spark seems as difficult
as navigating the turbulent waters of a royal wedding.
Happily Ever After is on the edge of disaster.

The End of an Era - Royals of Solana

As excited as I am about the release of my latest novel, Crown of Solana, I’m also a little
heartbroken.
It’s the last novel in the Royals of Solana series, and the end of an era.
Five years of hard work, and countless arguments with these characters in my brain, and the culmination is finally here.

Crown of Solana releases May 19th (for Kindle, May 22nd everywhere else), the same weekend I’m attending Wanderlustin Dallas. I pray that readers love the ending and find the climax fulfilling.
For those who haven’t read the novels yet, I hope they are willing to pick up the first in the series, knowing that they don’t have to wait for the sequels to release.
This series has been down a very rocky road for me, including getting the rights back from the first publisher, to re-release with a new publisher. But the finale has never been released, and my anxiety is sky high as to how readers will take it.
Nevertheless, I’m thrilled these characters finally have their HEA’s.
I’ve moved on to a new series that has me completely enthralled, but I won’t be releasing the first one until at least three are ready to go (at least five in this series). Maybe in a box set, not sure.

Will any of you be attending Wanderlust in Dallas this year? If so, drop by and see me!
If not, I'll be at Fresh Fiction's Boas n' Tiaras in Dallas next.

Following the brutal siege on their island country of Solana, Prince Andre and his sister, Princess Alanna face the monumental struggles of rebuilding their country. With the line of ascension unclear between the two remaining royals, the country is divided between who should inherit the throne. From all corners of the world, eager enemies surround the Royal Family. Defending the security of their countrymen grows harder still when the monarchy is threatened with dissolution, compromising the very identity of their culture.
When Gemma refuses Prince Andre's love because of her obsession with vengeance, the struggles of saving his country seem insurmountable. He resorts to old demons to cope, only to find they no longer mask his pain.
Meanwhile, Princess Alanna relies on Flynn's strong and solid demeanor to support her in her country's tumultuous upheaval. But her savior isn't accustomed to being arm-candy without a real purpose.
Despite the promises of love and a future in tropical paradise, royal life isn't as happily-ever-after as fairy tales depict. Especially not when scandals plague the palace amid diplomatic chaos. When old enemies charge into the breach, the royals stand to lose more than their crown and legacy.

~Royals of Solana ~
Royal life isn't all luxury, glamour, and celebrity status-- it's a target for relentless attacks from those who lust for power. The royals face vicious threats from both criminals and diplomats, all coveting the exotic prize that is their island nation. When the king and crown prince are brutally murdered during a cartel coup, Princess Alanna and exiled Prince Andre are forced on the run, desperate to save their own lives while trying to take back their country. Enemies emerge from all corners of the world, scrambling in the power vacuum. The last things the royal siblings need are limelight camera flashes, or steamy dalliances with common strangers. Except these strangers are impossible to ignore, and turn into would-be saviors.

Book Trailers! Yay or Nay?

For the first time, I delved into the realm of book trailers.

A friend of mine is big into the video graphics and design, and worked with me in creating a new book trailer for 2 novels in my Royals of Solana series.

The process was as equally fun as it was time consuming. Going through hours and hours of footage on stock video sites, and determining the best snippets for the overall tone was much harder than I expected.

And that hasn’t even considered the various ‘rules’ of book trailers. I didn’t even know there were rules. But the number one rule was: 30 seconds or less. Which is a lot harder to achieve. It’s like the synopsis battle: shoving an entire novel into 350 words or less.

But I love how they turned out. Let me know your thoughts. They are only 30 seconds each.

Authors: have you considered book trailers for novels?
Readers: do you pay attention to trailers? Have they impacted your decision to purchase a novel or not?

Return to Paradise - Jewel of Solana Release 3/20/17

It's time to return to paradise!
The tropical island of Solana is my exotic dream, that unfortunately with my twisted writer mind I run its inhabitants through hellish conditions. But if I didn't, where would the suspense part come in for the romantic suspense series?

I introduced the Solanian Royal Family in Prince of Solana, released just this past February. The very first story in the Royals of Solana trilogy.
The great news is people only had to wait 30 days for the next novel. Jewel of Solana is the princesses' story, and just as action packed and steamy as the first.

Princess Alanna Peralta escapes a brutal attack on her island home after a vicious cartel assassinates her family. To save the royal bloodline and family legacy—the priceless necklace Luna de Azul—she conceals her identity. Boarding a yacht, she lands in the arms of a brazenly handsome engineer, who might be her guardian angel—or a greedy demon in disguise.

Gabriel Flynn can’t look anyone in the eye. A childhood quirk made it unbearable to be around anyone. Until an obsidian-haired beauty begs for help. She is clearly not as she seems, and Flynn doubts her story…and intentions.

With danger at every turn, Alanna and Flynn discover the limitless reach of the cartel’s power. Flynn must decide how much he trusts her. As danger closes in, Alanna is torn between sacrifices—her life, family legacy, and country…or her heart.
