MEET US FOR LUNCH!

Caroline Clemmons posting for Mary Adair

As Jacquie Rogers told you a few days ago, she has reversed the trail of pioneers and “Gone to Texas” from Seattle on her way to the latest Pioneer Hearts Author and Reader Meet Up at WinStar Casino’s Legends Restaurant and Grille near the Texas/Oklahoma state line. (That is, she is on her way here.) Of course, you are invited! RSVP to Kirsten Osbourne on Facebook. Although most of the authors will be western historical writers, several contemporary authors will also attend.

I’m excited about this for numerous reasons:

1.     Jacquie and I have been online friends for years and have even written a duet together, MAIL ORDER TANGLE. Her book is MAIL ORDER RUCKUS, which describes Jacquie and all of her books. J She can and does raise a ruckus! If you doubt me, join her Facebook group, Pickle Barrel Bar and Books at https://www.facebook.com/groups/JacquieRogers/. My addition to the duet is MAIL ORDER PROMISE. Hmmm, that hero and heroine raise a bit of a ruckus, too. By the way, this duet of books is available from Amazon here: https://www.amazon.com/Mail-Order-Tangle-Caroline-Clemmons-ebook/dp/B00MZ6ZRXC/ref=sr_1_23?ie=UTF8&qid=1486505448&sr=8-23&keywords=Caroline+Clemmons

2   .    I’ll get to visit with authors I don’t often have a chance to see face-to-face, such as Callie Hutton, one of my favorite authors. As well as her historical westerns, I enjoy her Regency romances.

3.    I’ll have the opportunity to talk to readers and give out swag contributions. That’s always fun.

4.    Who doesn’t love the chance to have lunch with friends?

5.    I’ve never been to WinStar Casino and feel my education has been neglected. I don’t gamble, but don’t mind watching others indulge.

6.    This gives us me opportunity to stop at the locally famous Bucky’s on the way home. If you haven’t heard of the place, it’s a monstrously successful tourist trap on Interstate 35 near Alliance Airport selling everything from barbecue grills to fudge—and petrol. You caught that they sell fudge, didn’t you? Several flavors including maple walnut, which is my favorite.

Kirsten Osbourne organizes these events and will be at this one. If you haven’t joined her Facebook Groups, Pioneer Hearts and Contemporary Western Hearts, you’re missing interacting with authors and like-minded readers, contests, giveaways, and fun events.

Hope to see you Saturday, February 11, at Legends Restaurant and/or on Facebook!

Book Friends Are Best Friends #PioneerHearts #meetandgreet #booklovers

Book Friends Are Best Friends
by Jacquie Rogers

Book people are a bit on the strange side.  On the one hand, we like nothing better than a quiet house with a crackling fire in the fireplace, a cup of coffee (or tea if you must), a furry friend, and a stack of great books.  We love to lose ourselves in a wondrous story world and become the characters we read.

On the other hand, most of us also love to occasionally emerge from our reading caves to meet other book lovers.  And that's just what I plan to do the entire month of February.  The weather isn't cooperating but we're bound and determined to... (drum roll)

Go to Texas!

My husband and I are driving from Seattle to Texas, and the first stop is the Pioneer Hearts Readers and Authors Meet-up at the Legends Bar & Grill, which is in the WinStar World Casino and Resort in Thackerville, Oklahoma.  I hope you can join us!

You'll rub shoulders with Kristen Osbourne, Maxine Douglas, Patricia Carroll, Caroline Clemmons, Hebby Roman, Kathleen Tighe Ball, Carra Copelin, and lots more!  The meet-up is February 11th at 11 am.  (For those of you who know me, I did NOT set the time, or else it would've been held at 8 pm.)  I see coffee in my future.  If we can get there.

So from Seattle, we drive to Los Angeles, then over to Texas, and north to Oklahoma.  Yikes!  But the roads are too hazardous for us to take the shorter route through Idaho and Utah.  The extra 1,000 miles is worth it.  My book friends are worth it.

Then we're headed south to Ft. Worth, where we'll hang out with Caroline Clemmons and her family.  I've been Caroline's fangirl for at least 10 years.  Her books are wonderful and I've studied them for technique and structure.  While we have differing strengths, I've learned a lot from her and was tickled to death when I actually got to talk to her on the phone.  And now I get to meet her in real life!

And here's a real treat--you can meet Caroline and me somewhere in the Ft. Worth area, time and date TBA.  For more information on this meet-up, check my Facebook page.

Speaking of Caroline, have you read Josephine, the first book of her Bride Brigade series.  It's a compelling and heartfelt story that you sure don't want to miss.  The Kindle version is available for the bargain price of 99¢.  So read it today and then you can talk to her about it next weekend.  How fun is that?

Then we plan to hang out with Honey Beaulieu in San Antonio.  If you live in the area and want to meet up, message me on Facebook.

I'll have another meet and greet somewhere around Prescott, Arizona toward the end of the month, so keep watch on my Facebook page for information on that.  I'll be hanging out with my friend Ann Charles, the diva wench, and author of the Deadwood Mysteries series, the Jackrabbit Junction series, and the Dig Site Mysteries series.

By then, I reckon my husband and I will be pretty much road-foundered and ready to come home.  There's nothing like sleeping in your own bed.

Keep up with Jacquie Rogers' latest news at the
Pickle Barrel Gazette!

LAS VEGAS, BABY AND ROMANTIC TIMES

I've just spent the last few days having fun in Las Vegas, Nevada. My daughter, Amye, traveled with me to keep me company, to perform Sherpa duties, and to show me the ropes and a good time( aka: keep me out of trouble. Lol).  Eight years ago, I went there with her and her husband and really did the town (I was much younger) up right. This time we stayed close to our own hotel, Harrah's, and the Rio, where the convention was held.

Romantic Times Booklovers Convention was held there in all its glam and glory. If you've never been, Kathryn Falk and her staff always manage to out-do themselves from the year before. There are authors, cover models and wonderful readers.

The halls and elevators are decorated with author pics and their covers. Enthusiastic attendees dress up in costume, to meet their favorite author and join in the fanfare. There is a huge book signing held both Saturday and Sunday giving fans the opportunity to meet authors and cover models. Did I say HUGE?

The most fun I had this year was an event I attended with many of my friends. We belong to an awesome Facebook group of authors and readers of Western Historical Romance, called Pioneer Hearts. It is a place to find out about favorite authors latest releases, discuss favorite books and join exclusive contests, but it is so much more. The people are warm, loving, giving, readers and authors alike, and it feels like home! We held a readers event, Pioneer Hearts Hoedown to meet and greet our friends. There were contests, giveaways, and author swag.

Here are some pics from a wonderful time.

If you'd like to belong to a fantastic group of readers and writers of Western Historical Romance, please check out the Pioneer Hearts Group, You'll be glad you did!

Next year's Romantic Times Convention will be held in Atlanta. I'll be there again for a wonderful time and I'll be looking for you!.

Hugs to all,
Carra
