5 Ways To Slow Down Your Life And Really Enjoy It

Do you want a more peaceful life? Here’s 5 ways that you can begin today:

Please add your ideas and comments below.

1.  Turn off the Wi-Fi. We’re all on sensory overload. Lose yourself in some coloring, your favorite cookbook, or a great page-turner.

2.  Play soothing music.

3.  Take a long walk. Or meditate. Or cook. Pick an activity you enjoy.

4.  Meaningful, unhurried lunches, or enjoying a cup of coffee with friends or family are important connections. Make time for them.

5. Do you have a dream vacation in mind, perhaps to Ireland? Tape a picture of the perfect place on your bathroom mirror.

A perfect read for St. Patrick’s Day, my Contemporary Sweet Romance novel, Oh Danny Boy, is available in ebook, paperback, and audiobook.  (free on KU!)

Danny, the hero, owns a chain of coffee shops in Ireland.

Savor a cup of coffee and Happy Reading!

Oh Danny Boy

  1. I try to stop and smell the roses at least once a week.

  2. Slow down? We're in the midst of house renovations and we're supposed to list it for sale in 3 weeks!! Needless to say, there hasn't been any writing going on for a while and slowing down isn't supposed to be in my vocabulary. Except I can't push constantly, so I escape into a book some evenings. And chocolate. :)

  3. I’ve been a spinner for over twenty years - on a spinning wheel- and it’s soothin and addictive! And then I knit what I spin so there’s another great mind relaxation therapy. My wheel is near my writing space so when I get stuck sometimes I bring it over to my desk and spin for awhile to clear my head. :)

    1. I love sitting on a beach and enjoying the waves, Pam. Fortunately, Texas boasts lots of other activities.

  7. I try to do unplug as much as possible. I'll put on some music & read. Also my hubby & I will turn off the electronics and just sit and talk about everything and nothing.

  8. I love to find quiet time. I rarely use my cell phone and love being able to go out without that feeling I "must" be in constant contact via text messages, phone calls, Facebook, or email. The problem is that I am often with others who feel that they "must" be constantly connected - so I sit there while they are on the phone making calls or checking social media. I think it is a little sad that they can't enjoy their own company.

  10. Josie, thank you for reminding us that we need to slow down, spend time in meditation, and relax. The world moves much too fast for me.

  11. I color sometimes and I have many coloring books. I read of course and besides just being on facebook I play games probably too many on my phone and kindle. I watch NCIS during the day when it is on, my favorite tv show and I snuggle my little furry guys when they let me. One loves to sit with me in my recliner and get messaged and give me kisses. Then I sleep when I can which doesn't happen easily. I listen to my Christian music station and sing along.

  12. I have been dealing with chronic pain issues from a compressed nerve for over a year. I have escaped from LIFE because I haven’t been able to enjoy any of the things I love. So since January of 2017, I’ve read and reviewed 146 (will finish 147 tonight or tomorrow). I also do online Jigsaw Puzzles everyday to help keep my mind sharp. I enjoy music, too! 1. Lisa, I just had to reply to your Comment. My daughter is now a chronic pain patient since 2 back surgeries in 2016 and pain abatement procedures from a so-called Pain Management doctor made the situation so much worse and resulted in her now having a lifelong condition for which there is no cure. She started blogging about being a chronic pain patient and the alternative things she's done that helped--and the medical stuff that did not work. If you'd like to check out her blog, it's http://www.adinamayo.com. Good luck with your compressed nerve. I went through that all of 2014 after moving and remodeling a house. Took me a year to get where I could raise my right arm.

  14. Great post, Josie. I garden. There's just something about being out in the fresh air and looking at the flowers, trees, etc. that's renewing. I have a massive live oak tree in my front yard, and there's a small lake in my subdivision. On the rare occasions when I have a leisurely morning, I take a cup of coffee out and sit on the bench under the tree or over by the water. Very calming to start the day this way.

  15. Mine is a 40 minute walk every morning - well, most mornings - clears my head and helps me commune with the bigger world. Then I'm good to go!
