A Sad Goodbye by Bea Tifton

  Dear Readers,

As you know, my mother, Caroline Clemmons, passed away May 1. My sister and I have decided not to continue the blog as it would just be too sad for us. Thank you, thank you, thank you, to the amazing authors who posted each month and to the amazing readers who faithfully read them.  Please continue to read my mother's books and those of the talented ladies who belonged to this blog. Thank you for the wonderful years we all shared our love of romance.

  2. Thank you, Kevin. That's a very kind thing to say. Mom frequently spoke about your great sense of humor and what a nice man you are. She liked you.

    1. Did she ever tell you how i freaked her out one Saturday morning when we assembled the writer's group? Long story short--- I had sent out a chapter of a mystery where it ended with a house explosion that sent a human head, smoking and bouncing, down a driveway. When it was her turn to offer her thoughts she commented that I had seemed like such a nice guy and now she had no idea what to think. She cracked all of us up as she went on about it. ;)

She also, along with the late great Earl Staggs showed up one afternoon at our apartment and brought a ton of yard so that Sandi had stuff to crochet with while she did chemo. You Mom was awesome that day with my late wife, as she always was whenever she talked to her. Earl and your Mom spent a couple of hours out of their day cheering both of us up and gave Sandi so much support. It meant the world to both of us.

I may have told you both of those stories before. If so, I am sorry. The last few years have done quite a number on me mentally and physically. Please know, it isn't the same as family and I get that, but your Mom was incredible and meant the world to me.

After my Sandi, My Everything, died, your Mom made a point to check in on me every few weeks to make sure I was hanging and not leaving by my own hand. She knew I was wrecked and made sure she told me on a fairly routine basis not to do something stupid. When everybody else quit calling or emailing, your Mom never did until the last couple of years when she had her own hands full.

And I probably already told you that too. Anyway, I am very sorry for you and the rest of her family. She is deeply missed by many of us out here in the world.

    2. This is Bea. No, you never did and I so completely appreciate hearing these stories. She was such an incredible person. And she told me the story of your writing group meeting with the head. She was laughing all the way through it.

    3. For months afterwards, she would bring it up and tell me, as she laughed like crazy, that she could not take anymore of that. I used to tell her that her romances were missing rolling heads. ;)

    1. Thank you. You've always been so supportive of everyone's posts as well as writing such wonderful ones. I hope it was the correct decision. It's just so hard to decide what to do sometimes. Bea

  4. So sorry for the loss of your Mother. While we know it’s a part of life, it doesn’t make it any easier being without our dear moms. Mine passed in Feb. I miss her every day.
