This is a federal holiday in the United States when we honor and remember persons who have died while serving in the United States Armed Forces.
My great-uncle is one of the people I remember on this day. Only in his early 20's when he died while serving overseas, my Mom often spoke of his passing and he is greatly missed.

ReplyDeleteWe are a four-generation military family on my husband's side. His grandfather served in WWI (army), his father in WWII (air force), my husband served in Vietnam (army), and my son currently serves in the air force and has had five deployments. Yes, we think not only about our lost family of a grandfather and father, but also about all those who courageously served and are no longer with us. It's truly "home of the free, because of the brave."
ReplyDeleteBeautifully said, Judy. The courage and bravery of those who serve is inspiring and should be honored.
DeleteMy dad was a WWII Veteran and my brother who passed away in 2007, was a Vietnam Veteran. I also had two uncles, one in WWII and one in Vietnam. They are all heroes in my book
ReplyDeleteSo true, Laurean. All the brave men and women who serve are all heroes in my opinion too.
